The world is searching for sustainable, non-petroleum-based feedstocks for the chemicals industry. Indiana-based FiberX is initially focused on using corn stover, the agricultural by-product from Indiana's rich corn fields, to produce bioindustrial resins and biocomposite plastics. FiberX has partnered with Purdue University's School of Chemical Engineering and utilizes patent-pending proprietary technology to extract and depolymerize lignin from corn stover. This highly adhesive lignin feedstock is the basis of formaldehyde-free industrial resin. This new class of resin has a plethora of applications, and our first line of resin will be focused on the pressed fiberboard industry. Our corn stover feedstock is also the foundation for a line of formulations of fiber-reinforced biocomposite plastics.
