Posted on Mar 18, 2025

Company Overview:

Insignum AgTech enables plants to talk to you by changing color. We create genes out of plant DNA that enable crops to signal to farmers about potential stresses such as disease, insect pests, or low fertility. Utilizing a plant's natural pigments, our technology helps farmers optimize crop production by using in-season management strategies exactly when, precisely where, and only if necessary. Founded in 2019, Insignum is poised to commercialize our first product in our platform, a corn gene that turns leaves purple before disease symptoms can be seen.

Position Overview:

We are seeking a dynamic and skilled Director of Business Development to join our team in Indiana. Working directly under the CEO, this critical role will co-develop and execute our marketing & sales strategy, manage relationships with agribusinesses and other stakeholders, and lead market development as we expand our product portfolio.

  • Commercial Partnerships & Collaborations: Manage relationships with major and minor seed companies to test, license/sell Insignum products, and collaborate on new product development. Form and maintain other commercial relationships and partnerships to drive product adoption and growth.

Nurture strategic relationships with remote sensing companies, agronomists, crop protection companies, and equipment manufacturers to create an ag ecosystem utilizing Insignum products.

  • Customer Discovery & Market Development: Contribute to customer discovery, market development and expansion of our business into new territories. Investigate and quantify stresses that reduce crop yields in target territories, helping to develop product strategy. Support new business opportunities.
  • Sales & Marketing Strategy & Execution: Develop and execute strategies for sales and marketing, ensuring commercial success. Apply writing skills to press releases, social media posts, and other copy. Travel to trade shows, conferences, field sites, customer demonstrations, etc. is expected.
  • Commercial KPIs: Track key metrics for company success and create appropriate reporting mechanisms to communicate to internal and external stakeholders.
